Sally Desancic

An institution in the Australian beauty industry, Sally Desancic has been in fragrance distribution since the late ‘80s. After years working in management for iconic brands such as Clarins and Givenchy she left to pursue her dream of launching her own brand. That brand was The Bronzer, a simple wash-off tan that was the first of its kind in the market – and is still loved Australia-wide today. She later returned to the industry as the head fragrance, skincare and cosmetic buyer at My Chemist Group before leaving to permanently focus on the rapidly-growing family business.

Since co-founding Ti Cosmetics (now, Core Metrics) in 1997 she has created and successfully launched five brands with over 40 products . Now in her role as Managing Director she uses her 30 plus years of experience to develop new opportunities for Core Metrics, such as brand export and brand acquisitions.

For Sally, working in this beauty is not just a job, but a passion and she is driven by the desire to develop high-quality products at affordable pricing. Her ability to identify new opportunities, and to listen carefully to customer feedback has enabled her to deliver products that the market truly desires.

As one of the company’s directors, her role is constantly evolving to better fit the needs of the business, and it’s a challenge which she thoroughly enjoys. Watching the company thrive internationally has been of of the most gratifying parts of her career. In the 20 years since launching Ti cosmetics, she has seen it grow from a small outfit run from the family rumpus room, to opening an office in China – notoriously one of the hardest global markets to break into.

I want to see how far we can grow further not only in sales but on personal level too. Working with my family gives me a deep satisfaction I discovered since returning to the business a few years ago.

For Sally it’s not just global success that provides the greatest job satisfaction, but rather the combination of creating high-quality products and working with her family. She is constantly proud of each family member’s abilities, the success they bring to the business, and most of all the passion and dedication they all share for the company.

Despite having plans for more brands and further distribution in the pipeline, Sally’s feet are firmly planted on the ground, and rather than focussing on accolades or big plans she continues to do what she does best: make incredible products for families, alongside her own hardworking family who all love what they do.
