First created by Mäurer & Wirtz in 1959, Tabac Original quickly built a cult following of men who are still loyal to it to this day. Passed down through generations of men around the world, the success of this fragrance is not just in its accessibility, but in the perfectly balanced composition of unmistakable masculinity combined with classic sophistication.

Opening with crisp top notes including lemon, bergamot, and a spicy black pepper, its heart is anchored with oakwood and balanced with soft florals including lavender, geranium and chamomile.

At the base, the traditional masculine notes all come together to form a warm, sensual concoction of sandalwood, musk, ambergris and vetiver making it as perfect for the office as it is a wedding.

Although there have been some updates over the last 60 years, each design evolution has been carefully considered so as to honour the original, but also remain relevant to the times.

What has not changed, however, is the opaque glass bottle and iconic, instantly recognisable logo which have stayed the same since launch.

In early 2019 the creators of Tabac – Mäurer & Wirtz – handed exclusive Australian distribution of the brand over to Core Metrics.
